Wikipedia API Looking for Developers

If you’ve been experimenting with Atlas, our new mapping tool, you may have noticed that it’s easy to include Wikipedia content on your maps.

Type in a city — say, “New Bedford, MA” — and you’ll be able to pull up a list of Wikipedia articles related to that city (”New England”,”Towns in Massachusetts”,”Bristol County, Massachusetts”,”Coastal towns of Massachusetts”, etc).

This function is powered by the FUTEF API. FUTEF is an excellent custom search engine for Wikipedia content created by one of our friends.

Yesterday the folks at FUTEF said they’re looking for more developers to try the API.

We’re still working on our own implementation, but we highly recommend the FUTEF API. If you’re building something that would benefit from references to the biggest and best encyclopedia in the world, give it a try.

The FUTEF API documentation is here. We’re happy to answer any questions about our experience with it.
